American baritone Wilbert Kellerman has been described as "superb...a promising voice" (OperaWire) and "winning" (Schmopera) in recent performances. Upcoming appearances include a recital at University of Scranton, and Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande at the Moss Arts Center of Virginia Tech. Recent appearances include the role of Hunding in Die Walküre as a guest performer with Manhattan Opera Studio, a gala performance for the Roanoke Symphony, the 2018 Mildred Miller International Competition as a semi-finalist, the 2018 Kosciuszko Foundation Marcella Sembrich International Voice Competition, and in 2019 the Secret Police Agent in Menotti's The Consul, as well as the title role in The Mikado with Bronx Opera. Past professional engagements include Alcade and Chirurgo in La forza del destino with New Amsterdam Opera. Wilbert recently earned a Master of Music degree at Mannes School of Music, where he performed the roles of Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, and Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress. In the summer of 2018 he was an Apprentice Artist at Teatro Nuovo, the new home of Bel Canto at Caramoor. In past summers he has been a young artist at Songfest in Los Angeles, and in Sicily where he made his international debut, singing Marco in Gianni Schicchi and Baron Douphol in an updated staging of La Traviata. A cum laude graduate of James Madison University, Mr. Kellerman performed the role of Colline in La bohème and appeared in several other productions. Also an accomplished violinist, Mr. Kellerman has won several awards and competitions. Originally from Radford, Virginia, Wilbert currently resides in New York City.
